Aberdeen Council reminds residents of 0845 numbers

Date: 16/12/2011

Investing in backup non-geographic numbers could help companies to ensure they can still provide a high-quality customer service if their main phone lines experience problems.

Earlier today (December 16th), Aberdeen City Council was forced to remind residents of its alternative 0845 telephone numbers after technical difficulties were reported.

The local authority explained how its customer contact centre is "operating as normal", but some calls are failing to be patched through.

Individuals were advised numbers starting 522 and 523 were out of action, but the council was working with the network provider to "get the phone lines back up and running as soon as possible".

Fortunately, people could still report issues by calling specific 0845 numbers assigned to the environmental, housing repairs and council tax departments.

Firms considering non-geographical numbers may be interested to hear they provide companies with a national presence, are memorable and cost a low amount to call from a landline.
