Local phone numbers may be required by businesses due to be unveiled in Birkenhead town centre, where a major new development has been announced.
Shops and offices have been planned for a largely unused area located behind Central Station on the edge of the main shopping precinct.
It is thought more than 500 jobs will be created as a result of the move, with local councillor and Wirral's cabinet member for regeneration Phil Davies welcoming the news.
"We have been trying to develop that area between Central Station and through to the A41, trying to come up with a good plan for a regeneration scheme for a number of years now," he stated.
The councillor added the new development will help to lift the area around Birkenhead, describing the plans as "fantastic".
Dozens of jobs were brought to the region earlier this year after customer management firm The Contact Company opened a new call centre.
