BSkyB to open new call centre

Date: 04/07/2011

New revenue share numbers may be required by broadcaster BSkyB.

The company has announced it is opening a new call centre in the heart of Newcastle, the Evening Chronicle reports.

It is thought this will create up to 400 jobs and the site will be located near St James' Park.

Jonathan Walker, North East Chamber of Commerce head of member relations, welcomed the news and said it is good to see that the private sector is still generating jobs in the north-east.

"City centres are real drivers of growth and when this happens in city centres it encourages other people to invest," he added.

The newspaper believes the new call centre will occupy three floors of a recently completed office building at Gallowgate.

BSkyB is not the only company to be launching a new call centre at present, as French hotel firm Madame Vacances has just established an outlet in Brighton and Hove, Travel Daily recently reported.
