Citizens Advice Direct to launch new call centre

Date: 14/12/2011

Citizens Advice Direct may need to invest in 0844 phone numbers following the announcement of the opening of a new call centre.

The Stornoway Gazette reports how the operation will be based at Gleann Seileach Business Park and will lead to a recruitment drive for 41 new employees.

Kirsteen McDonald, Citizens Advice Direct's chief executive officer, said: "We were initially attracted here from our Glasgow base because of the Islands' excellent reputation for business services and we are optimistic about finding additional staff of the same high calibre."

The site will house new employees, as well as members of the current Consumer Direct team, who are based at Shawbost.

Services offered by Citizens Advice Direct include free guidance on employment, consumer issues and welfare.

The organisation receives 42,000 enquiries per year, with 65 per cent of questions resolved during the first point of contact with the company's call centre.
