Construction to begin on new health centre

Date: 12/01/2012

New local rate numbers may be needed once work on a new GP practice is completed in Buckshaw.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports how builders are due to start constructing the health facility in the next few weeks, under plans approved by NHS North West.

Buckshaw Village Surgery will host a range of services including a dental practice, social care and Dr Nimal Muttucumaru's GP centre all under one roof.

Lindsay Hoyle, MP for Chorley, said: "With the opening of the railway station, a school and a community centre, the GP surgery is another major addition to the development of a unique village identity."

NHS Central Lancashire's senior operating officer Colette Crowther commented the completion of the practice will help bring better access to health services to local residents.

Dr Muttucumaru recently described approval for the new centre as "fantastic news" for the thousands of individuals who will benefit from the move.
