Dental practice opens in Merseyside

Date: 15/08/2011

Some 03 numbers may be required at one new dental practice in the north-west.

Origins Dental Surgery in Knowsley, Merseyside, will treat around 7,000 people, Dentistry.co.uk reports.

It is made up of two practices, the first of which is located at Whiston Primary Care Resource Centre, while the second is based at Halewood Resource Centre and has just opened.

The health centre received £600,000 of funding from the Department of Health's Dental Access Programme and is able to offer extended opening times as a result.

It has been established through a partnership between principle dentist Dr Ravi Gollapudi and former Knowsley GP Dr Sudhaker Khandavalli.

Barry Cockcroft, chief dental officer for England, said: "I'm delighted to see first-hand how Knowsley Health & Wellbeing has shaped its new surgery following the expertise of Origins Dental's principal dentist and partnership with a local GP."

This is not the only site that may require 0300 numbers, as plans have been put forward to build a new doctors' surgery and base for the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and Gwent Police in Monmouth, Free Press reported.
