EDF Energy 'facing record number of call centre complaints'

Companies looking to purchase revenue share numbers and establish a call centre may be interested in the latest news regarding EDF Energy.

The firm is experiencing a record number of complaints following the introduction of a new system at its three call centres, This is Money reported.

Regulatory body Ofgem is monitoring the situation and of the energy provider's 5.5 million customers, one in eight have complained about poor service, the news provider stated.

The problems began after an electronic customer care system was installed at sites in Exeter, Hove and Doxford Park near Sunderland, meaning EDF is now the most complained about power company in the UK.

Speaking to the Financial Mail, customer services director at the business Steve Hayfield said: "I hold my hands up. We have let our customers down badly - especially in June and July."

At the end of last month, it was revealed emergency repairs firm HomeServe halted its telephone sales after it was accused of mis-selling in its call centres.
