Enterprises thinking of obtaining a new VoIP phone number have been advised to ensure they plan the operation carefully.
Speaking to My Broadband, chief executive officer of African company Du Pont Telecom Graeme Victor explained the technology is being rolled out to an increasing number of enterprises.
The news provider also pointed out that VoIP offers many benefits to businesses, such as free phone calls to users on the same system.
However, Mr Victor urged firms to take time to analyse the options available and ensure they have an appropriate knowledge of the technology.
"It is therefore important for local businesses to choose a VoIP provider who understands all aspects of VoIP security," he stated.
Solutions, such as those from CommsReady, route calls over a data network rather than a traditional PBX system and can lead to significant cost savings as well as offering seamless call transfers and extension dialling.
