FSB: Govt must support emerging businesses

Date: 19/09/2011

The government must do more to encourage entrepreneurs and support their growth, it has been claimed.

Currently, those starting their own enterprise - who may be looking to purchase non-geographic telephone numbers - face "many obstacles", the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) stated.

As a result, it has highlighted several ways in which business secretary Vince Cable could create a stable environment for them to develop and expand.

While reducing business taxes and improving cash flow are two of its recommendations, the FSB also suggested increasing routes to finance, encouraging the creation of jobs and cutting red tape.

National chairman of the FSB John Walker said: "We are calling on the business secretary to listen to the real-life entrepreneurs that have told us their problems and to make changes that address their needs."

There was good news for the small business sector last week however, as the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey revealed less sizable firms have good hiring intentions.
