Revisions to a new health centre plan may mean just one local phone number is now needed instead of two.
Originally, NHS Borders intended to build a practice that would house two surgeries, the BBC reports.
However, despite this proposal being passed by the Scottish Borders Council, changes have been drawn up.
Under the new designs, the site will now be home to just one smaller GP surgery instead of the original plan.
The health centre is planned for Lauder and the changes follow an agreement last month to purchase common good land at Crofts Road where the building will be erected.
Over the forthcoming weeks, the council will consider the newly revised application in full.
It was recently reported by the Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertiser that plans to relocate two local GP surgeries had been met with criticism from some residents who believe the new site will be too far out of town.
