Meeting scheduled to discuss poor GP care

Date: 19/01/2012

Investing in new 0300 numbers may be one of the outcomes of a meeting to be held tonight (January 19th) discussing failing GP care in Kingston.

The Surrey Comet reports how poor performance by out of hours medical professional company Harmoni will be the main focus of the assembly.

A health and overview scrutiny committee report shows five GP surgeries failed to meet the 100 per cent target in October 2011, despite general overall improvements since the firm took over from Patient Care 24 in July.

The previous provider achieved worse ratings, as it missed eight of 13 targets, including abandoning ten per cent of calls from people trying to speak to a GP.

Councillors will meet at Kingston Guildhall at 19:30 GMT.

Harmoni offers services including referral management centres, offender healthcare services, IT services, urgent care centres and GP-led health centres, in a bid to deliver high-quality integrated care pathways.
