New 0808 numbers 'free and memorable'

Ofcom introduced 0808 digits when the previous set of prefixes started to run out.

In a previous statement regarding the safeguarding of numbers in the UK, the regulatory body said it wishes to simplify the meaning of the digits "so that consumers can better understand the price that they are paying and the service that they are receiving".
