New GP surgery opens in Sheffield

Date: 07/07/2011

New 0300 numbers may be required in Sheffield as a new GP surgery has just opened in the city.

The East Bank Medical Centre, on East Bank Road in Arbourthorne, is expected to treat over 4,000 patients, the Star reports.

There is also scope for further development in the future and it is hoped new community health services will be added at a later date.

East Bank replaces the area's previous Northern Avenue practice and is a modern two-storey building with 14 consulting rooms.

Training for medial students will also be provided at the facility, which is situated in the heart of the local community.

Manager Sharon Turner said: "This is a fabulous development and patients can expect treatment in first class facilities located in the centre of the community."

Earlier this week, News Wales reported that a new out-of-hours health service in Wales has adopted a 03 number for use on bank holidays and during the evening.
