New hospital looks to attract patients

Date: 11/01/2012

A hospital looking to widen its catchment zone for patients may want to consider investing in non-geographic numbers so it presents a national presence.

The Bourne Local reports how health chiefs at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust want to attract people from the surrounding counties to use Peterborough City Hospital.

Having opened in November, the establishment is one of the most modern medical institutions in the country.

Chairman of the Trust Nigel Hards commented: "I think a lot of people don't know they can elect to go wherever they want and there are a lot of potential patients we are targeting in areas between hospitals."

It is hoped the proactive approach of visiting GP surgeries and handing out leaflets will help individuals from Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.

Peterborough City Hospital has an onsite emergency department, a dedicated women and children's unit and a self-contained haematology and oncology centre.
