O2 signs contract for new contact centre

Date: 16/06/2011

New non-geographic numbers may be required by O2, as it is making changes to its UK customer call centres.

Communications integrator Datapoint has signed a £10 million contract with the mobile phone provider to create a multi-channel contact hub.

It will link the call centres O2 already has in operation up and down the UK, as well as speeding up the service delivered to those who phone in with a problem.

Chief executive officer at Datapoint Jim Kent said the development will allow the communications enterprise to be "even more agile in communicating and rolling out new services to its customers".

Head of strategy and operations in O2's sales and service department Gareth Turpin added that the change will "step up service" for consumers.

This is not the only new call centre being introduced in the UK at present as it was recently announced that the Listening Company will create up to 600 jobs when it opens a site in August.
