Date: 19/12/2011

The implementation of 0300 numbers may have helped GP surgeries to boost their score in the latest patient survey.

Figures released by the Department of Health show the national performance of primary medical cares services was found to be high.

Of those questioned, 79 per cent rated their experience of making an appointment as good, which may have been helped by access to freephone numbers.

Meanwhile, 93 per cent of respondents said their scheduled visiting time was convenient.

Surgery opening hours were approved of by 81 per cent, while 88 per cent rated their overall experience with their local practice as good.

The survey was conducted between July and September by Ipsos Mori and involved patients being asked to provide their opinion on features such as the opening hours and out-of-hours service at their primary care trust.
