Public invited to share thoughts on NHS complaints procedure

Date: 09/01/2012

New non-geographic numbers may be needed by the NHS following a consultation to review how complaints and comments are handled.

The Birmingham Mail reports how residents in Cannock and Tamworth are to be invited to put forward their views on the proposal for a major shake-up of the medical and social care sector.

A public review will be held today (January 9th) at the Civic Ballroom, Beecroft Road in Cannock from 18:00 GMT until 20:00 GMT.

Meanwhile residents in Lichfield will be able to have their say tomorrow from 14:00 GMT until 16:00 GMT at King Edward VI School on Upper St John Street.

The proposals are set to look at new ways of collecting patient feedback about hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists and social services, with an independent organisation established to monitor the data.

Elsewhere, the Leicester Mercury recently reported how members of the paper's Patient's Panel believe a free telephone number should be introduced where people can voice their concerns about local practices.
