It seems as though RS Components is one company that knows to treat customers when they contact its call centre, which may use 0800 numbers.
The electronic and maintenance product distributor has been shortlisted in the employer of the year category in the European Call Centre and Customer Service Awards 2011.
It claims it is "continually" looking for ways to "support and motivate" its staff members who have to speak to consumers on a regular basis.
As well as acknowledging the way in which the enterprise promotes innovation and develops its workers, the award takes into consideration how this has improved its overall performance.
Head of outbound processes for the RS Components Contact Centre Scott Jayes said: "By creating a 'great place to work' at RS our frontline teams are continuously supported, really helping us to deliver a great service for our customers."
This comes after House of Fraser revealed it is working with ForeSee to analyse its call centre operations to gain a better understanding of customer experience and hopefully boost sales.
