New 0300 numbers may be needed if a health centre consolidating three local GP surgeries is given the go-ahead.
Town councillors in Knutsford have revealed they will back plans for a medical service in the area providing current facilities are kept and improved, the local Guardian reports.
A report presented to the council by working group leader councillor Andrew Malloy stated: "Such a centre must include some or all of the existing GP surgeries, bed provision and at least the existing services currently provided by Knutsford Community Hospital."
In November, a month-long consultation period allowing residents to air their views on the development was launched, which ended on Thursday (December 15th).
In addition, it was suggested a minor injuries ward should be considered, while the Stanley Centre was advised to be retained in the current building.
Elsewhere, doctor's surgeries in Warrington were recently urged to revert back to local phone numbers after switching to a service that could not be called for free, the local Guardian reported.
