Town welcomes new community centre

Date: 23/12/2011

A new local number may have been invested in ahead of the grand opening of Pinetrees Community Centre, which was opened by town mayor Ray Ballman.

The Swindon Advertiser reports how campaigners spent four years fighting for the hall to be built following the demolition of Pinehurst People's Centre in 2007.

Chairman of the Pinetrees Steering Group Jessica Bascombe described the new centre as "wonderful" and claimed it is great to see a community project in "the heart" of the town.

Local resident Jane Reeves said: "It is excellent. It will bring people together and is providing people with what is needed in Pinehurst."

The building features two NHS dental rooms, two rentable meeting spaces, a library, internet cafe, reception, toilets and Citizens Advice Bureau.

Elsewhere, work on the new Milford Haven Medical Centre has been welcomed by local residents keen to see a GP surgery in the area, the Milford and West Wales Mercury recently reported.
