University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust launching new telecoms contract

Date: 25/07/2011

New 0800 numbers may be required by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in the near future.

This is because it has decided to establish a new managed telecommunications services contract, a notice in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) states.

The deal is worth £14 million and will last for five years.

A number of telecommunications services and equipment will be required as part of the contract, including mobile phones and a wide area network.

Furthermore, patients will be provided with telephone, internet and television services.

According to the article, the aim of the endeavour is to reduce current outgoings and "achieve future cost savings".

Another medical organisation that may have been looking for new phone numbers recently is East Bank Medical Centre in Sheffield.

It opened earlier this month and is expected to provide care to more than 4,000 patients with new community health services likely to be added at a later date.
