VisitScotland and Scottish Borders Council establish contact centre

Date: 25/10/2011

A new contact centre that may require the use of local telephone numbers has been opened in Scotland.

The new site at the Chambers Institution in Peebles is a joint venture between VisitScotland and the Scottish Borders Council, while the local Citizen's Advice Bureau will also be based there.

Local councillor Neil Calvert, who is also chairman of the Chambers Institution Trust, welcomed guests and praised the new offices.

"The refurbishment of the building and the bringing together of these services in one central location has breathed new life into this important building," he was quoted by Peebleshire News as stating.

Mr Calvert added that a great deal of work has gone into carrying out the building improvements, which will bring local services together under one roof.

Earlier this month, Scottish call centre Bellcom was awarded the Happiest Healthiest accolade at the Glasgow Business Awards due to its commitment to ensuring the health and wellbeing of its workforce, the Glaswegian reported.
