VoIP services 'are much improved'

Date: 23/05/2011

A VoIP phone number could be a beneficial purchase for companies looking to improve their telecommunications systems.

Previously, issues with internet connectivity meant this service was not always reliable and therefore not widely adopted.

However, a number of reports suggest this is changing due to the introduction of broadband and high-speed services.

The Lubbock Avalanche Journal notes that although internet calling with video capabilities has been available "for a couple of decades", improved cameras, sound quality and speeds mean VoIP is now a "great" way of making free calls.

Similarly, the Globe and Mail stated that the growth of broadband has reduced service issues.

"As such, small and medium-sized businesses are increasingly considering switching to the new means of making calls," the article continued.

In an article for the Cambridge Network recently, Sapien IT Services said that as well as being easy to install, VoIP phones ensure enterprises never miss a call as incoming communications can be diverted to other handsets.
